Tech Dutch Startups will be participating in the program
Amsterdam, 12 July 2018 – Over the last few months, Startupbootcamp, the leading global startup acceleration and innovation program, has been working on a Blockchain focused startup accelerator program. The first program, which will operate as a so-called “MVP” will be organized at the Startupbootcamp’s offices in the Netherlands. The new initiative goes in line with the company’s aim to focus on startups that leverage new technologies that will impact industries.
Part of the program will be focussed on developing new funding models for startups and scaleups including Blockchain-centric funding models such as ICOs based on a Security or Utility Token. For the first program, four Tech Dutch Startups will be participating in the program, which started on 4th of July 2018.
Rapid changes in the Blockchain sector, with more and more people entering the space, require specific attention. Together with experts from all over the world, Startupbootcamp will help them grow their companies through the SBC’s extensive network of corporate customers and marketing channels.
Startupbootcamp has been accelerating startups since 2010. With over 650 companies in their portfolio, they are backed by partners including leading tech companies, such as Amazon, Cisco and PwC and over 100+ global corporate enterprises. The Blockchain companies joining the program will be mentored and advised by experienced entrepreneurs, partners, and experts.
Marc Wesselink, Managing Partner & Serial Entrepreneur at Startupbootcamp, who will be leading the new Blockchain technology-focused program commented: “It is important for Startupbootcamp to keep innovating and experiment with new solutions that will benefit our community of startups. We’re really proud to be testing our first Blockchain focused program which will have a focus on alternative funding models for startups. It is our strong belief that Security Tokens will be the future for funding startups and scaleups.
The global scale, rule-and metrics based investment model that the Blockchain and related smart contracts enable, and the fact that liquidity can be created instantly will solve problems we see startups, scaleups and investors experience on a daily basis. We do feel that additional regulation is needed in the near future but see a lot of potential in this new type of funding for early-stage companies. We aspire that through this program, we will be able to clear up a lot of prejudices and make these businesses more tangible and sustainable for both investors and founders.”
Startupbootcamp was involved in the acceleration of WePower that conducted one of the most successful ICOs in the Energy Industry in 2018 (an alumnus of Startupbootcamp Energy Australia), and is also supporting the Utility Token Sale for SafeGuard, a Dutch startup taking part in Startupbootcamp Smart City & IoT program in Amsterdam. The new Blockchain focussed program is meant to expand on the success of those initial projects in the Blockchain sector.
Patrick de Zeeuw, co-founder of Startupbootcamp Global explains: “Ever since we started Startupbootcamp, our goal has been to accelerate startups, save them time and avoid those mistakes we made ourselves as entrepreneurs. We always look at the challenges startups go through, like founder conflicts, not having a perfect product-market fit, international expansion and raising capital. This last topic is still a serious challenge for many startups and scaleups across the globe. If a new technology enables a new business model that helps us to serve our “customers” better (in this case the startups and scaleups that join our programs), we should experiment and learn how to leverage this technology. This is what this first program is all about. Learning how we can serve our customers better in solving the problems they face.”
The Dutch startup teams taking part in the Startupbootcamp Blockchain Program are:
Veiligebuurt.nl – Their platform enhances a sense of security by easily connecting neighbors, police and IoT alarm systems without compromising privacy. They educate people on crime prevention, creating vigilance and decreasing burglary rates. This gives them a unique position in the insurance chain.
Eyevestor.com – Eyevestor is ready to give global equity liquidity. A simple, accessible service platform for businesses, shareholders and investors. Owners set their own market terms and stay in control. It is the complete stakeholder management and investment solution for SME equity
Smilo.io – Combines the public and private features of the Blockchain within its core. They provide options for public and private transactions and also provide public and private smart contracts and decentralized applications.
Voltogo.nl – Voltogo brings the perfect and portable battery for boats and the world’s first boat rapid charging network in restaurants on the waterside, with already 100% coverage in Amsterdam. Finally, you’ll have the capacity and freedom to enjoy a fantastic silent boat experience for as long as you want.
The four companies entered a 12-week program and mentorship sessions as they are guided by mentors towards a possible alternative funding model based on Blockchain technology. The companies are all creating innovative solutions, but are unique in the fact that they are not entirely based on Blockchain technology.
The launch of the program also recognizes the importance of connecting the startups and Blockchain community by introducing new tech solutions.
