Netflix plans to double India headcount in next 6 monthsVideo streaming giant Netflix plans to its employee headcount in India in the next six , chief talent officer Jessica Neal has told The Times of India.

Neal said that they currently have 30 employees in India and are looking for lateral hires across various functions like content licensing, production talent, , legal and finance. Netflix had opened its India office in Mumbai last year.

“Our plan globally, and here in Mumbai, is to hire the best talent possible. India is one of the biggest entertainment hubs and we have been impressed by everyone we have been meeting. India is a new market for us and interacting with the talent here helps us understand how to resonate and how to build service for people better here and around the world” Neal told the publication.

WIth Neflix focusing big on original content, India has turned out to be a lucrative hub for the streaming giant.

The company has released two original series in the country until now and has commissioned around nine more original series, with the most recent one being the two-season Baahubali prequel original series.

“It is the fastest investment we have ever made and the largest investment we’ve made to date in local original programming,” Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix, had told ET in July this year.

Earlier today, Netflix also announced that its third original series Selection Day, an adaptation of Aravind Adiga’s eponymous novel, will launch on December 28, 2018.
