Welcome to PentahoWorld! It’s my great pleasure to welcome customers, partners and industry experts back to Orlando to share ideas, learn and network. Since we last met in 2015, we’ve all been facing tremendous technological, social and geopolitical changes. Our theme that year, “Putting Big Data to Work” showcased our customers achieving true business value through their projects.
Fast forward two years and these investments are not only paying off in a big way, but giving way to much more ambitious initiatives. Under this year’s theme, “Move Beyond Big Data to Transformation,” the conference will explore best practices, use cases, and innovations that elevate projects to higher stages of maturity and value delivery.
Now that we’re part of Hitachi Vantara, this year’s theme holds extra significance for us. Hitachi Vantara is focused on helping customers achieve dramatic transformation in the face of continuing business uncertainty and economic turbulence by allowing them to tap into all their data. The Pentaho data integration and analytics platform plays a central role in this.
This year, we’re proud to announce Pentaho version 8.0. New capabilities in this major release deliver greater enterprise scalability and productivity while insulating customers from the challenges posed by new technologies and rapidly changing data landscapes:
- Improve connectivity to streaming data sources – As data volumes and velocity grow exponentially, Pentaho 8.0 offers capabilities including stream processing with Spark, connections to Kafka streams and big data security with Knox.
- Optimize processing resources – Every organization has constrained data processing resources that it needs to allocate intelligently, guaranteeing high availability even during peak demand. Pentaho 8.0 responds to this by adding worker nodes to scale out enterprise workloads, adaptive execution enhancements and native support for Apache Avro and Apache Parquet.
- Boost Team Productivity – Pentaho 8.0 also adds several new features that respond to the shortage of big data skills and that help to increase productivity across the data pipeline. These include granular filters for preparing data, improved repository usability and easier application auditing.
Hitachi Vantara’s Pentaho 8.0 software will be generally available in November. To learn more, visit Penataho 8.0.
With Pentaho 8.0, Hitachi Vantara is building the foundation for future applications and strengthening the core platform for the enterprise. This journey to digital transformation is one we’ve been on with our customers for many years and being part of Hitachi Vantara puts considerably more wind behind our sails.
I look forward to meeting you at PentahoWorld!
P.S. If you’re unable to attend this year’s event, be sure to tune in to theCUBE at PentahoWorld 2017 to see the mainstage and live interviews with Hitachi Vantara customers and executives. And don’t forget to register for our November 16th webinar about Pentaho 8.0, during which we will be showing a live demo of stream processing with Spark and other 8.0 features
