Greetings from Tel Aviv and welcome to another monthly wrap up! Apologies for the silence last week, merely a reflection of the silence of inflows, but I should have notified you all about the temporary hiatus. Some pretty exciting news this week in Israel, in particular Compass raised a $75m round vaulting the company to the unicorn level with a $1b valuation. Although exciting, this transaction pales in comparison to Uber’s $680m (reported) acquisition of Otto, the self-driving truck start-up co-founded by Lior Ron.

We saw a robust $415m invested in August with Software Applications leading the way (23%) and even distribution across Social Media & Advertising, Enterprise Solutions, Industrial Technologies, and Digital Health and Medical Technologies, alongside $775m in disclosed M&A (total M&A was higher).
