Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. If you have new APIs, clients, or source code examples to add to ProgrammableWeb’s directories, we offer forms (APIs, Clients, Source Code) for submitting them to our API research team. If there’s a listing in one of our directories that you’d like to claim as the owner, please contact us at email@example.com.
Twelve more APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories such as Payments, Location, and Security. Highlights include the GeoDataSource API which returns data about cities based on geolocation input. Here’s a rundown of the latest additions.
GeoDataSource provides a database of information about 3 million cities around the world. The GeoDataSource Web Service REST API returns country, region, city, latitude and longitude, and other information from a location input. This API is listed under the Location category. See ProgrammableWeb‘s complete list of Location APIs.
SearchCulture.gr enables users to discover digital content about the science, technology and culture of Greece. Content is aggregated by the National Documentation Centre (EKT), a scientific institution at the National Hellenic Research Foundation in Greece. Data comes from the PFF Collection, Onassis Library, ELIA, Anemi Library, Archive of the Chamber of Arts of Greece, and many other sources. The SearchCulture.gr Web API enables applications to search for and display data from EKT. This API is listed under the Greek category. See ProgrammableWeb‘s complete list of Greek APIs.
Infusionsoft provides sales and email marketing services for small businesses. Not exactly new, but new to our directory is the Infusionsoft REST API, as previously we only had the Infusionsoft RPC/XML API in the directory. Developers can use the REST API to integrate applications with Infusionsoft business services to manage email, files, campaigns, contacts, tasks, appointments, and much more. This API is listed in our The Infusionsoft REST API is listed under the Business category. See ProgrammableWeb‘s complete list of Business APIs.
Two more APIs from Infinite Loop Development for automobile data have been added to the directory in our Auto category. The Colombian Vehicle Number Plate API and Bolivian Car Registration API allow developers to get vehicle information using a car number plate registered in Columbia and Bolivia, respectively. Information returned includes the car’s description, registration year, year of manufacture, make, model, body size, engine size, fuel type, and more. Developers of car insurance, car service, or used car sales websites and applications can use the APIs to capture technical information about customer vehicles.
ABN AMRO Bank provides the Tikkie Fast Checkout API to enable online customers to check out without entering details, such as their email and address, every time they make a purchase. Customers can pay with a single click using an online button or a QR code. Payments are made via iDEAL. Tikkie Fast Checkout works for anyone, as long as they’re using a Dutch bank to make payments. The API is listed under the Payments category. See ProgrammableWeb‘s complete list of Payments APIs.
Bambora is a payments platform available in over 60 markets. The Bambora API makes payments requests in HTTP format, supported by cURL command-line tool. With Bambora API, developers can create a transaction, create a payment profile, and search for a transaction. The Bambora API is also listed under the Payments category.
Telnyx is an API-first provider of communication and voice services. The Telnyx Communications API provides services such as call tracking to cloud-based PBX, dynamic security, and authentication use cases. The RESTful API conveys JSON-formatted requests and responses. The platform also allows users to configure messaging, control VoIP and IP network functions in addition to defining the scope of real time communications. This API is listed under the Telephony category. See ProgrammableWeb‘s complete list of Telephony APIs.
MAC address Vendor Lookup API allows developers to retrieve vendor details and other information for a given MAC address or OUI. This API provides full, up-to-date data sourced from the IEEE Standards Association. Developers can make up to 500 calls per second. The MAC address API is listed under the Security category. See ProgrammableWeb‘s complete list of Security APIs.
CKMIO offers a suite of APIs for building realtime applications for any platform. We’ve added the following three APIs to our Infrastructure-as-a-Service category.
CKMIO Pub Sub API allows developers to send messages back and forth using the format of their choice. When developers program their systems with a pub/sub pattern, CKMIO Pub Sub can manage message delivery.
CKMIO Funnels API provides server-side filtering that prevents down-stream subscribers from receiving excess unwanted information. It also creates consistent channels that let subscribers decide what information they’re interested in. All filtering is done at the server side before delivery.
CKMIO Chat API allows developers to integrate identity-based communication systems into their applications.
