Shenzhen Gas, China Telecom, GoldCard and Huawei have joined hands to release a whitepaper that analyses the problems and challenges faced by China’s gas industry.

The document proposes a smart gas solution, involving the solution value, model, and practice, which are based on the IoT platform and NB-IoT technology.

Gas services in the cities have made great progress, yet they have to struggle with safety issues, customers’ service satisfaction, enterprises’ profitability, and regional energy supply and demand balance. Gas enterprise operations also experience various management problems, along with difficulty in reading meters, charging and payment issues. Solutions to all these snags are systematically covered in the whitepaper.

The solution includes system architecture of cloud, pipe, and device to meet the requirements of ICT future-oriented evolution. This involves the terminal layer, network layer, cloud platform layer, gas application layer, and other layers – which are integrated by IoT, cloud computing, and big data, and support construction and fast rollout of smart gas applications.

It provides NB-IoT technical support to ensure wide coverage, low power consumption, and stable and safe transmission. It also provides a unified IoT platform for connection management, device management, and application enablement so that gas companies can focus on their application to provide better application services for end .

Additionally, the overall solution provides the E2E defence system to safeguard terminal, network, platform, and application layer . Moreover, the use of a lightweight DTLS mechanism reduces the impact on terminal power consumption and guarantees the reliable operation of the system even in the case of attacks.
