IBM is partnering with the Red Cross, the Linux Foundation, the United Nations and several other organizations on a effort called the Call for Code Global . The goal is to encourage developers to leverage cloud computing, analytics, artificial intelligence, blockchain and the of Things to create that can help humanity prepare for and respond to natural disasters. IBM CEO Ginni Rometty said her company will contribute $30 million and a variety of to support the initiative.

The project includes a coding contest that will honor 30 semi-finalists, 3 finalists and an ultimate winner. Apps can be submitted to the contest between June 18, 2018, and Aug. 31, 2018. More information can be found at CallforCode.org.
